Using the text book Volcanology and Geothermal Energy by Wohletz and Heiken, this lecture course will cover physical and chemical processes of magma chambers and conduits that contribute to the heat and mass budgets of geothermal systems. Including volcanic seismology, the hydro-geochemistry of these systems will be extensively reviewed giving students a thorough and practical background important in many industrial applications, including environmental restoration, economic minerals, and energy. Lectures will be supplemented by a field trip.
