We are pleased to be able to support the maintenance staff for the mine, but associated costs must come from other sources. Your generous donation is appreciated

The Harding Mine is charging entry fees for groups due to the rising costs of preservation and maintenance.  You may send us a check at the above address or you may give it to our caretaker, Gilbert Griego, when you visit the mine.

The charge is $50.00 for groups of 10 or more.  Donations from individual visitors and smaller groups are welcome.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RISK

We, the undersigned, understand that the University of New Mexico does not provide insurance coverage for medical care that I may need because of my visit to the Harding Mine.  I further understand that there are certain risks and hazards that may arise in the course of this activity, including accidents or illness in remote locations, and risks inherent in visiting an abandoned mine.

I hereby accept responsibility for any injury or expense resulting from my participation and acknowledge that any claims for damages against the University of New Mexico for death, personal injury, or property damage which may occur as a result of my participation in the above-mentioned activity would be governed by the New Mexico Tort Claims Act, which imposes limitations on the recovery of damages from state institutions and their public employees.

Under no circumstances are visitors allowed to enter any of the underground workings.  Children are not allowed on the mine property unless supervised individually by an adult.  Please aid in the preservation of this locality by restricting collecting to material for personal collections (approximately 5 lbs./person).  Do not leave trash on the mine property.

Anyone in violation of these rules or without the signed release forms on their person will be considered trespassers on the property.
