Distribution of orientations of surface cracks from clasts on desert surfaces from the Mojave Desert and New Mexico

Shows all orientations of cracks from crack categories defined on the basis of their relationships to clast shape and fabric.

Shows orientations of cracks not related to clast shape or fabric. The clearly nonrandom, strong North-South bias of the population is attributed to diurnal patterns of solar insolation and related stresses.
