- 15 January: Introduction, discussion of nature of course, general
review of public presentations, assignments.
- 22 January: Organization and preparation of oral, professional presentations;
production and types of illustration aides.
- 29 January: Improvisational/extemporaneous format presentations
- 5 February: Improvisational/extemporaneous format presentations
- 12 February: Improvisational/extemporaneous format presentations.
N ote: topics for first and second oral presentations due and approved during
week
- 19 February: JWG: discussion and criticism of professional articles
from the geologic literature.
- 26 February: JWG: powerpoint presentations
- 5 March: no class; JWG in Washington
- 12 March: Spring Break
- 19 March: First oral presentation (10 +/- minute presentation, with
visual aides).
- 26 March: First oral presentation (10 +/- minute presentation, with
visual aides).
- 2 April: First oral presentation (10 +/- minute presentation, with
visual aides).
- 9 April: JWG: preparation of abstracts, preparation of professional
slides (Use of camera (!), scanners, Designer, Power Point, SCDL files, etc.
)
- 16 April: Deadline for submission of DRAFT of abstract for second
(final presentation).
- 23 April: Second (final) presentation (15-20 minute +/- format, with
illustrations, abstract)
- 30 April: Second (final) presentation (15-20 minute +/- format, with
illustrations, abstract)
- 7 May: Second (final) presentation (15-20 minute +/- format, with
illustrations, abstract) (during finals week, if necessary)
