Brandi Rene Cron, MS candidate in E&PS
  • BD Cohort 6. Attended Gallup HS, Gallup, NM (2003) B.S., Biology, University of New Mexico (2008). Advisor: Dr. Laura Crossey. Career Goal: Brandi hopes to use her background in Biology and obtain a Ph.D. in the geosciences to have a research career in Marine Geomicrobiology.
Akinbayowa O. Falase, Ph.D. candidate in Chemical Engineering
  • BD Cohort 6. Attended Gallup HS, Gallup, NM (2001.) B.S., Chemical Engineering, University of New Mexico (2005). Advisor: Dr. Plamen Atanassov. Career Goal: Bayo hopes for a career as a professor with research interests in chemical engineering to create clean, affordable, renewable, and safe power generation to solve energy problems using bio-engineered power sources.
Maria Guadalupe Leyva, MS candidate in Chemical Engineering

Angela Montoya, MS candidate in Mechanical Engineering
  • BD Cohort 6. Attended Sandia HS, NM (1996) B.S., Physics, University of New Mexico (2002).Advisor: Dr. Arup Maji. Career Goal: Angela desires a research career in Structural Engineering. Her research interests include non-destructive testing, mechanics of materials, and computational mechanics. MS received spring 2010. Will continue as PhD in Mechanical Engineering at UNM in fall 2010.
Kareen C. Prade, MS candidate in E&PS
  • BD Cohort 6. Attended Stillwater HS, OK (2004) B.S.,Geology, Oklahoma State University (2008). Advisor: Dr. Tobias Fischer. Career Goal: Participating in research geared toward gaining a more complete understanding of volcanic processes, particularly plume-ridge interaction, mantle convection and volatiles in magma.
Anthony S. Torres, MS candidate in Mechanical Engineeering
  • BD Cohort 6. Attended Mayfield HS, NM (2004) B.S.,Civil Engineering, New Mexico State University (2008).Advisors: Drs. Arup Maji, /Rafiqul Tarefder. Career Goal: Professor with research career in structures. MS received spring 2010. Will continue as PhD in Mechanical Engineering at UNM in fall 2010.

  • BD Cohort 6. Attended Rio Rancho HS, NM (2004) B.S., Electrical Engineering, New Mexico Tech (2008). Advisor: Dr. Christos Christodoulou. Career Goal: Manuel would like to study the interactions of electromagnetic signals with different materials and geometries, and have research and teaching career in Electrical Engineering.

  • BD Cohort 6. Attended Carlsbad HS, (2004) B.S.,Biology, B.A. Chemistry, University of New Mexico (2009). Advisor: Dr. Cristina Takacs-Vesbach. Career Goal: Dan is interested in studying bacteria and their role in the evolution of early life and their role in ecosystems. Beyond that he hopes to have a career as a research professor.
